Manchester is a great city for children and young people to grow, develop and thrive. Outdoor Learning (OL) and Outdoor Adventurous Activity (OAA) have a part to play in achieving those outcomes that help children and young people to succeed. We want Manchester to develop its OL/OAA offer so that more people, of all ages and abilities, can participate and progress. Manchester City Council with partners have commissioned Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) to help create an OL/OAA strategy that will provide vision and direction for partners and providers across the city.
SHU will support Manchester Active’s strategy development by mapping what the offer looks like now and undertaking a needs assessment to identify what Manchester should be doing more of. To support this, we would like to understand the range of barriers to widening participation in Outdoor Learning & Adventurous Activity from your perspective, and what you feel are the current gaps in provision and the opportunities for future growth and development.
